Google TV

Google TV is about to be launched in the next couple of days and Google has already put up a mini-site dedicated to the product. I must say, its beautiful. Think of a flat screen TV and an iPad combined and you get the sleek look of the actual hardware, which integrates all of your web browsing and video streaming capabilities.

If you are interested in taking a look at the site you can find it at the link below.

Skype integration with Facebook

It was announced today that Skype will be bringing its groundbreaking service to Facebook. Once you connect Skype with Facebook, you’ll be able to SMS, chat with or call your Facebook friends directly from Skype. You should also be able to log in to Skype with your Facebook credentials. This means no more having to enter all your contacts for separate services, and if you have over 50 friends that use Skype and Facebook, this can save you some time and energy. It is still unclear how far this is planning on going, but we may see in the future a complete integration of video chat right in your Facebook page, courtesy of Skype.

Apple acquires Liquid Metal Technologies patents

Recently, Apple has quietly acquired a complete set of patents from a mostly unknown company called Liquid Metal Technologies. This points to some very interesting implications for Apple products in the future, as Liquid Metal has marketed the fact that their metal is more elastic than other alloys.

Though we cannot be sure how this technology will be implemented in later Apple devices, there is a strong possibility that they have stumbled upon a new light weight alloy with above average strength in their research. Only time will tell as Apple has not yet announced their intentions for the new technology. To learn more about Liquid Metal Technologies visit the link below.

iPhone alarm bug

Apple's iPhone reportedly has a glitch that means if users set a one-time alarm to wake them p on the 1st of the new year, they wont be waking up on time.

Twitter lit up today with lots of negative tweets from people who were cheated out of greeting the New Year in their desired fashion because their iPhone alarms failed them.

The bug reportedly could have the same effect for January 2 as well, if you let it. But there's an easy fix, and come the 3rd, the glitch should evaporate. Apple told Engadget:

"We're aware of an issue related to nonrepeating alarms set for January 1 or 2. Customers can set recurring alarms for those dates and all alarms will work properly beginning January 3."

In November the iPhone's alarm was off by an hour, in a mix-up related to Daylight Savings Time. These are surprising
issues for Apples beloved iphone to have but assuming Apple has themselves gotten the wake up call, we wont see it again in the future.
